Welcome to The Truth About Alcohol. I’m Lee Davy.
This podcast is for people who know something about their drinking doesn’t quite add up — and want to understand why stopping can feel so much harder than it should.
No labels. No judgement. No “rock bottom” stories required.
We talk about what alcohol really does to the body, brain, and nervous system, why cravings and rituals are so persistent, and why willpower isn’t the issue most people think it is. You’ll hear calm, honest conversations that reduce shame, make the confusion make sense, and help you see your next step more clearly — whether you’re still drinking, trying to stop, or have stopped but don’t feel settled.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’m intelligent, capable, and functional… so why can’t I just stop?” you’re in the right place.

In Episode #35 of the Alcohol & Addiction podcast I try something different. Think of this as an audio blog. My subject matter is one I think is vital for achievement of sobriety. It’s called ‘The Vow’. As it’s a new format I would be grateful if you could post a comment giving me feedback. It would also be a great help if you could head over to Stitcher (http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/needy-helper/the-alcohol-addiction-podcast) and give me a 5-Star review (if you think I’m worth it that is). Other ways you can support the podcast is by purchasing your Amazon products through my link, and sharing the post with as many people as you can. When you quit alcohol you find a lot of time on your hands. I call this white space. It's important to fill this white space up with activities that will increase your growth. If you don't there is a danger that you may fill it with booze. So what do you fill the white space with? In this episode I walk you through a process known as 12 Week Planning. It's through this process that you will find the key actions you need to take to fill that white space. In this show I talk about the following: The 1% Club A community that I am a member of created by Andre Chaperon. I am not sure if the community is currently accepting any new members. Here is the link http://www.1percentclub.co I get a lot out of the group, and recommend Andre's training courses. Asana Asana is a piece of software that enables you to create projects and then disseminate actions to various members of your team. I have only been using the software for a fortnight, but love it. It's free of charge. https://app.asana.com/ Google Sheets and Google Calendar Both of these options are free resources and can be found with a simple Google search. Google Sheets is excel that can be shared with other web users. Google Calendar is a calendar that can also be shared with other web users. If you would like personal one-to-one coaching on 12 Week Planning then contact me at needyhelper@gmail.com and we can make that happen. If you liked this episode, please leave a positive review, and share it with someone who you believe may get some use out of it.
