Welcome to The Truth About Alcohol. I’m Lee Davy.
This podcast is for people who know something about their drinking doesn’t quite add up — and want to understand why stopping can feel so much harder than it should.
No labels. No judgement. No “rock bottom” stories required.
We talk about what alcohol really does to the body, brain, and nervous system, why cravings and rituals are so persistent, and why willpower isn’t the issue most people think it is. You’ll hear calm, honest conversations that reduce shame, make the confusion make sense, and help you see your next step more clearly — whether you’re still drinking, trying to stop, or have stopped but don’t feel settled.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’m intelligent, capable, and functional… so why can’t I just stop?” you’re in the right place.

Episode #105: Strive Member James on Refusing to be Beaten
Wednesday Sep 20, 2017
Wednesday Sep 20, 2017
James has been a member of the Strive community since July of this year. When he first arrived, he was like everyone else, lost, confused, but with an urge to quit. James knew that for his life to get back on track, he needed to find his authentic self, and alcohol was obscuring that possibility. At his lowest point, James changed, and although it's very early days in his sobriety, he wants to help other people quit while striving towards his new fitness goals. The progress I have seen with James is remarkable. I hope by listening to him talk about his experience that you will also find the courage to join the Strive Community Forum and quit alcohol as James has. Podcast Takeaways David Goggins The Truth About Alcohol Online Training Course I have created a three-month online training course that helps people quit alcohol. It consists of over 100+ online videos, no longer than ten minutes, and takes place in a group setting with four courses running per year. The course costs £400, but I have found a donor willing to buy 20-courses so that I can give them away for free. The first session begins Oct 1 and runs through to the end of the year. The ten participants are already locked down and are all current Strive members. There are ten places up for grabs for the Jan 2018 course, but you have to join Strive forum so we can get to know each other a little better. I will only be providing slots to people who I believe are going to work their ass off trying to quit alcohol. People owe this to themselves, the group, and the donor. If we can show the donor that people take this course seriously, and the results are positive, then hopefully, we can secure more funding for more free courses. If you don't want to wait until January and want to join the October 1 course, then the fee will be £400. If you want to take the course but don't want to be a Strive member, then the course will cost £400. Email me at needyhelper@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Ep 102: Karla Maree on Nutrition and Alcohol
Thursday Aug 31, 2017
Thursday Aug 31, 2017
In this episode I talk to Karla Maree, a functional diagnostic nutritionist and health coach who specializes in healing the body, restoring happy moods, and guiding clients into continuing sobriety. She is a certified nutritionist and certified neuronutrient therapy specialist. Her fifteen years of practice has a special emphasis on correcting the brain’s neurotransmitter functioning. She is actively involved in both clinical and private client work, as well as teaching holistic brain-chemistry recovery to health professionals worldwide. She champions a formula for rejuvenating health and mood by focusing on key areas such as nutrient deficiencies and dietary imbalances as well as identifying and eliminating the instigators behind cravings, exhaustion, stress, dysbiosis, stress and sex-hormone dysregulation, and insomnia. Using targeted amino acids, she has been enormously successful in eradicating all cravings, which ultimately sabotage so many attempts at sobriety. She is a firm believer in simplifying nutrition and uprooting destructive health myths. Karla uses specialized testing to identify specific causes of exhaustion, insomnia, GI health, and many others, and uses her extensive knowledge of these difficult and often debilitating issues to design custom protocols to help guide clients back to vibrant wellness. In this episode, we talk about brain chemistry, homeostasis, candida, the link between the gut and the brain, sugar, and of course how all of this is linked to alcohol. Ep 100: Lee Monks on Alcohol Lies, Marketing & Propaganda
Wednesday Aug 02, 2017
Wednesday Aug 02, 2017
Lee Monks is a writer from Derbyshire, in the UK, and a member of the Strive Community Forum. Lee comes from an extended family to whom drinking is like breathing. He came on the show to talk about the disturbing way that the normality of consuming a potent poison is marketing, in order to keep people like himself an addict. As Lee continues to lead a sober life, he notices the ease by which millions are marshalled by lies and propaganda that suggest drinking is nothing but fun, is normal, is the English way of life, is what all the cool kids are doing at a non-existent 24/7 party, and that to not drink is in some way a betrayal of an admirable national characteristic. Welcome to Episode 96 of the Alcohol & Addiction Podcast the show designed to expose the truth about alcoholism, and raise awareness so people can quit and find freedom.
