Welcome to The Truth About Alcohol. I’m Lee Davy.
This podcast is for people who know something about their drinking doesn’t quite add up — and want to understand why stopping can feel so much harder than it should.
No labels. No judgement. No “rock bottom” stories required.
We talk about what alcohol really does to the body, brain, and nervous system, why cravings and rituals are so persistent, and why willpower isn’t the issue most people think it is. You’ll hear calm, honest conversations that reduce shame, make the confusion make sense, and help you see your next step more clearly — whether you’re still drinking, trying to stop, or have stopped but don’t feel settled.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’m intelligent, capable, and functional… so why can’t I just stop?” you’re in the right place.

Tuesday Jul 06, 2021
Michael believes sugar addiction is very real and not to be taken lightly. As a person in long-term recovery from substance use disorder for over thirty-five years, he took a very keen interest in what sugar was doing to him and his friends in early recovery. After much research and experimentation - he quit sugar with the help of amazing mentors. He then raised two children sugar-free from the womb to six years old and as they grew he re-wrote the rules for sugar and kids in childhood.
After a successful business career online selling software and information he decided that what really made him happy was helping people with their addictions. He has written a book on sugar detox and addiction and developed an intensive, online 30-Day Sugar Freedom Challenge. A firm believer in community support, to help with any issue, he has included membership in his private recovery forum with the challenge.
Mike is the founder of both SugarAddiction.com and QuitSugarSummit.com His book “The Last Resort Sugar Detox” has been read by hundreds of thousands of people and his online 30-Day Challenge Sugar Freedom Challenge has been successfully completed by thousands.
